Here we list the names assigned to each of the general aspects of the ASKAP pulsar proposal. It has been recommended that teams are formed with a specific person appointed to be the chairperson for each group (that is perform some form of management role).

It's likely that the 'simulation' aspect may need to be further refined into some sub-projects as this is likely to be a core aspect of the initial part of the work and relies on many different sets of skills.

!! The expressions-of-interest

The ASKAP team has called for "expressions of interest". These are be 4-page documents containing a basic description of a particular project for ASKAP. Full descriptions of these expressions of interest are available [[http://www.atnf.csiro.au/projects/askap/newdocs/EOIfinal.pdf|here]]. The ASKAP team will consider these expressions-of-interest on technical feasibility and the members of all successful projects will be asked to send in a detailed proposal for consideration.

These expressions-of-interest need to be written on a very short time scale and therefore it is essential to start work now. We need to:

* Define which projects the pulsar community wishes to put forward (e.g. pulsar timing, pulsar searching, etc.)
* Nominate a team leader for each project
* Determine team members for each project and the role of each individual
* Determine the technical feasibility and define the required hardware/software for each project
* Write and submit the expression-of-interest

Some notes:

* It is expected that each proposal will have at least one member of the ATNF somewhere on the proposal to help liase between the team members and the engineering designing and building ASKAP.
* Leadership of ASKAP projects is open access to astronomers world-wide. Proposals with overseas leaders are therefore strongly encouraged.
* Other web-sites are being developed for other ASKAP projects (see, e.g. [[http://www.atnf.csiro.au/people/bkoribal/askap/ | ASKAP HI Survey page]])

! ASKAP

The Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope will be built in Western Australia and operational by ~2013. The project is led by CSIRO ATNF in collaboration with scientists and engineers in Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany, as well as colleagues from a number of Australian universities and industry partners. The aim of this wiki page is to provide information about the ASKAP telescope and to start discussion on submitting some "expressions of interest" for pulsar related projects using ASKAP.

We have created a new email distribution list (GIVE DETAILS!) that should be used for general comments, queries and discussion.
